Engineering challenge

In long-lateral drilling, static friction between the string and the wellbore can limit tool-string movement, reduce effective weight transfer to the bit, and affect toolface control and ROP. The field objective is to improve string movement without adding unnecessary operational complexity.

Tool solution

ASBR drilling hydraulic oscillator uses drilling fluid as the power source to generate continuous axial pulse oscillation. By converting part of the static friction into dynamic friction, the tool supports smoother sliding drilling and more stable energy transfer in high-friction sections.

Preparation and testing
